In the late 600s and early 700s BC, King Hezekiah was a good king in Judah. He was responsible for cleansing the temple and leading a religious revival. This was nearly 200 years after King Solomon’s reign. However, during his reign, Hezekiah also thought it was important to gather more of King Solomon’s proverbs and have them written down for future generations, including us. This is pretty amazing when you think about the extent to which Hezekiah went to preserve Solomon’s writings. But it’s even more amazing when we consider that, nearly 200 years after they were written or spoken, God led Hezekiah’s royal scribes to carefully transcribe and record some of the proverbs that were important to Him so they would be preserved for us and future generations. Every word in Scripture has its own amazing literary history. The supernatural history is off the charts! The writings in the Bible were written over a period of more than 1,500 years by approximately 40 different authors on three different continents. Yet, the message remains consistent from beginning to end. And the Bible has influenced the history of our world like no other book. “Its moral teachings, laws, and narratives formed the bedrock of Western civilization, deeply influencing modern legal systems, human rights concepts, art, literature, and music.” (AIResource) Today, ponder the incredible reality of this book that we know to be the Word of God. #BeTheEdge
