“Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.”

I have a friend who spent years building his company. He has worked harder than just about anybody I know. Occasionally, he missed out on some parenting opportunities with his children and even a few things that would have been nice to do with his wife. Thankfully, everybody understood that it takes a lot of work to grow a company when you own one. His dream was to get the company to a point where he could sell it for enough money to relax, enjoy the rest of his life with his family, and never have to worry about paying bills again. He got there. Just a couple of weeks ago, he sold his company for enough money to shift his focus to the things that had always mattered to him and that he had always wanted to give more attention to. Now, you probably know where this is going. Just yesterday, I found out he had been diagnosed with stage four cancer. The medical outlook is rather bleak. Thankfully, he does have a relationship with Jesus, and his eternal future is secure. I have heard this story numerous times, but I must admit, this one hits very close to home. He is a good man who loves the Lord, but perhaps he worked a little too hard to make just a little more than he needed in exchange for things he may regret missing out on. This is not a judgment. In his shoes, I don’t know that I would have done anything differently. It’s just a reality that things and stuff will never last. Relationships and Jesus will. Today, be sure you aren’t sacrificing the eternal for the temporal. #BeTheEdge

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬
