“One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace will have the king for a friend.”
For the last three days, I’ve been with about 100 people at a golf event. These men and women came together to support The Edge ministry and enjoy the beautiful setting of the event. During our time together, there were lots of meaningful conversations, some tears, and a ton of laughter. What was present in great abundance were the qualities Solomon is talking about in this passage: people with good hearts who listened and spoke with the grace of our Father. The event is billed as a memorial for one of the founders of our ministry and is also our main fundraiser. What it turns into every year is a time of great fellowship, encouragement, connection, and simply experiencing the presence of the Holy Spirit flowing freely through our conversations and interactions. There’s a lot of poking fun, which is expected with a bunch of guys on a golf course. However, it’s the kind of teasing that involves no pain and lots of smiles. It’s a microcosm of what every day should be like. When we walk into the office, our lives and our companies may be experiencing very difficult times, but we still serve a God of joy, peace, and grace. Those qualities should permeate every conversation, however difficult it may be, and all our interactions. As Solomon says in this passage, when they do, our ability to influence others for the kingdom knows no limits. Today, live with grace, love, and kindness. #BeTheEdge
