“Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.”
You’ve probably heard the old saying that you never see a U-Haul being pulled by a hearse. You can’t take it with you.I had a conversation with a good man the other day. We were discussing life and, as both of us have lost our wives, how we finish well. He made the comment that, with pretty simple wants and needs, how important is chasing more dollars? We talked about how much is enough. We also discussed that there are ways to get money, but are they right or helpful to us or anyone else? If not, then that’s a waste. Long ago, with another friend of means, the subject of finances came up. He made the comment that getting more money wasn’t hard. He said, “If that’s your goal, just sell liquor and porn.” I wasn’t expecting that. His point, he continued, was to forget chasing riches. Pursue God and His call, and if riches were in His design, that was fine. If not, He certainly promised that as we walk in His plan, our needs would be met. I have been around an awful lot of wise men in my life, and I’ve found a comfortable place in working and putting together enough to hopefully never be a burden to the government or my family. Today, pursue God, and He will supply what you need. #BeTheEdge
