“But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are deep in the realm of the dead.”

There was a book and then a movie called Dead Man Walking about the life of death-row inmate Matthew Poncelet, who was befriended by Sister Mary Prejean. The phrase “dead man walking” started in American prisons. Guards used it to announce that a condemned prisoner was being walked from their cell to the execution chamber. That’s an incredibly depressing picture brought to life for many who read the book or saw the movie. When a person lives without a relationship with God, they are dead men (or women) walking. If we are able to see into the spiritual world, we will recognize just how true that is for many people we encounter every day. It should also sadden us. It should also motivate us to do whatever it takes to reflect the living Jesus and speak of Him appropriately whenever possible. If we passed someone walking in a direction that would eventually take them over a cliff, how evil would we be to not let them know? They may not listen, which is still sad, but our responsibility is not to make them say yes to God. Our responsibility is to give them the chance to say yes or no to His Spirit. Today, live with a glimpse into the eternal. #BeTheEdge
