“Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb! Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers!”

My mom faced a lot of adversity in her life but seldom seemed to notice. Her best intentions were not always appreciated. She was dedicated to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and to their success in life, both physically, financially and spiritually. As the oldest living child in a family of eight, she took on the role of matriarch early and unflinchingly. She was never a victim. When awful things were done to her, she never allowed them to slow her progress or diminish her drive. She taught this to her children. I’m grateful for that. Her motives could be easily misread, and often were, but she had an eternal perspective that was unshakable. Losing a husband, two children, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson broke her heart…but only for a moment. Then she held on to the reality that they were waiting for all of us, and she got busy about the Lord’s work. She looked after the poor and broken. I’m trying to live up to what she taught and how she lived. All Proverbs 31 women don’t look alike. What is your life teaching those who are watching?
