“In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.”
I know Scripture tells us that it rains on the just and the unjust alike. There’s a great truth in that, but it’s not today’s truth. Solomon helps us remember that God does look after His children. God’s hand is reflected throughout His creation, and nature does what nature does because He made it that way. The sun shines, plants grow, water refreshes us. Mornings coolness that can create a comforting sensation when it touches our skin, and the crash of waves that exudes power in the hearts of everyone who witnesses it reminds us —we all get a blessing from who God is. However, in this verse, Solomon reminds us that when we are His children, there’s an extra blessing that He directs toward us. The most obvious is that His Spirit is given to us and resides in our hearts. With Him come love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self control and faithfulness. I’d agree that these things are not available to those who are not His children, but there’s also favor on His children when they live like His representatives. When they are kind, considerate, and compassionate, they exude His joy and love. As a result, lives are drawn to Him. Witnessing His favor directed toward His children is part of what transforms the world. Today, celebrate His favor. #BeTheEdge
