“Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool bent on folly.”
What are the benefits of age? Hopefully figuring out who is smart and who is not in your journey. Smart people tend to do basically smart things, and the foolish ones obviously reveal that distinction by what they do as well. When you have an open heart and you’re around God’s people who operate in God’s wisdom, you have the opportunity to grow to be one of those smart people. And the converse is true about hanging out with the foolish and unwise. I’ve always appreciated the saying, “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.” I would go further to say that if you are the smartest person in the room, I suspect you are potentially around some dangerous, unwise people as well. I recognize that in a business, there are times when you will and should be the smartest person in the room. That’s what they hired you for. But in general life circumstances, we should always seek to surround ourselves with godly wisdom found in the lives of His saints. Today, look for wise counselors. #BeTheEdge
