“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”

In the last two days, I’ve experienced this truth in some very poignant ways. Life is incredibly unpredictable. Transitions—whether involving life and death, careers, family, or any other adventure that comes with this thing we call life—seldom, if ever, operate on our schedule. Thankfully, they cannot avoid God’s schedule. Even death, Scripture tells us, has an appointed time and place determined by God Himself. There’s comfort in that. If God is sovereign, as I surely believe He is, then there is no transition in our lives that escapes His power and control. There’s peace in that. What I’ve experienced over the last couple weeks has caused me to wrestle with the concept of peace in the midst of transitions. Yet we know that God is the author of every transition in life. Although they all fall within God’s timing and plan for His children, that doesn’t mean they are not, at times, painful or hard. Paul tells us in Corinthians that death is the final enemy. It is, indeed, an enemy. It was not God’s original design. However, it cannot thwart God’s plan in the life of a follower of Christ. Today, find confidence and peace in the fact that God is in control of every transition in our story. #BeTheEdge
