“For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.”

When I have a new idea for the ministry, I run it by a pretty large group of people. I admit I often ask a few more people than is probably necessary. This verse is why. When I was much younger, I figured I knew what needed to happen, and as the hired professional, I didn’t really need that much input from others. That got me into a world of hurt a few times, and I learned my lesson. We have certainly witnessed throughout history nations that fell through a lack of guidance—or poor guidance. We’ve also seen ministries fall for the same reason. I determined at an early age that, even though I didn’t pursue guidance as often as I should have, I certainly was not going to steer a ship that fell because I failed to seek wise counsel. I’ve known numerous businesses that had outside advisors to help their leadership. I have sat in meetings with executives looking at exit events or major direction changes who wanted someone in the room to bring spiritual insight. I certainly wasn’t there to give business insight. Not sure how much value I brought to the room, but I would look around and see great value in the other minds they brought together. If you want victory in your life, have solid counselors. If you want victory in your business, have solid counselors. Today, pursue and cling to wise counsel. #BeTheEdge
