“The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.” ‬

One of the great things about being a follower of Christ is the availability of God’s wisdom. Think about that truth for a minute. The God, the Creator and Sustainer of life, the One who began it all and has existed and will exist for all eternity, the source of everything—I could go on. That very God offers us unlimited access to Him and His wisdom. Now reread that first sentence. Wow! In this verse, Solomon makes it clear that pride and humility are the keys to either accessing that wisdom or missing it entirely. Pride blocks it, while humility gains access to it. How foolish or blind must someone be to not humbly respond to the invitation to receive all God offers? The mocker is not seeking wisdom for Kingdom reasons. Most often, they simply want to prove that they are right or wise in their own power. The word for “mocker” is also translated as “scoffer.” They scoff at God for being who He is and believe they have access to a wisdom as powerful as His. It is almost too hard to believe that someone can be that foolish. When we look at the supposedly wise people of the world who operate apart from God, they may appear to have success for a season, but ultimately they will suffer for their hubris. Humility is not difficult when we see God for who He is and, in light of that, see ourselves for who we are. Today, humbly seek God in all things. #BeTheEdge
