‭ “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.”

Over the years, I’ve read and heard lots of messages based on this verse. The majority, by far, focused on the first half. The fact that God detests people who intentionally steal from and rip off others should not surprise us. This morning, I’d like to focus on those business leaders who please God by how they practice their trade. In almost a decade of leading a ministry of business leaders, I’ve been so impressed with those who follow Him and not only do not compromise, but are not even tempted to in how they do business. Some have great stories about opportunities to shade a bid or take advantage of a mistake in their favor on an invoice, but they didn’t. They operate with a full awareness that their business is not theirs, but God’s. I have heard, as I’m sure you have, many stories of people in the business community taking advantage of others. Sadly, there’s a trail of customers and clients who have been mistreated by those in the business world, some who even profess to be followers of Christ. In leading this ministry, I’ve become aware that there are many, many, many followers of Christ doing business the right way. In the same way all politicians are considered corrupt, business leaders are often painted with that same brush. I find the majority to be good men and women who want to do an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay. Realizing that all of our efforts reflect the God we serve is not only a great challenge, but also a terrific opportunity. Today, weigh accurately. #BeTheEdge
