“To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.”
Culturally, it can be easy for us in America to picture this verse. We see preachers on TV, we see them in church pulpits on Sunday mornings, and sometimes we see people of faith speaking in public settings. At times, we even see them standing on curbs proclaiming the gospel. It’s easy for us to imagine this verse literally. However, throughout the centuries, it has not always been that easy. Yet this verse and this chapter have certainly remained true through all those times. The fastest-growing church in the world right now is in Iran. If that surprises you, how it is growing may surprise you even more. Small, quiet, secret home churches are having an impact. Even more fascinating is that Jesus is crying out in private visions to young men who are encountering Him the way Paul did on the road to Damascus. We are told that when the Bamboo Curtain comes down around China, we will discover that the largest and most vibrant church in the world is actually there in the heart of that communist nation. Obviously, no one is shouting about Jesus on TVs or street corners in either of those countries, and yet wisdom continues to proclaim the God who saves. When we get to heaven, I believe we will hear stories of salvation that go far beyond our imagination. In our culture, we became captivated by evangelism programs and organized outreach. Our churches have set aside days for what we call revival. The beauty of what Solomon shares is that God, in His creativity, goes far beyond what we could ever conceive in drawing men and women to Himself. Today, hear wisdom shout in whatever form she desires. #BeTheEdge
