“Let all who are simple come to my house!” To those who have no sense she says,”

In this passage, Solomon has Wisdom calling out to the simple and senseless, inviting them to receive what they need. As we see throughout Scripture, Wisdom is a reflection of God and what He offers to the world—especially to His followers. Years ago, the first time I read this verse, I remember thinking, I’m glad I’m not simple or lacking sense. But as I look back over the years, I recognize something humbling: while I may not want to believe that about myself—and while there are times I don’t act that way—there have been more than enough moments when I have proven myself to be exactly that: simple and senseless. One of the greatest gifts God offers us, beyond salvation, is His Holy Spirit living inside of us. That was not available in the same way to those in Old Testament times. Before His resurrection, Jesus told His followers to wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit. At Pentecost, we see Him settle on them like tongues of fire. When we come to Christ, His Spirit breathes new life into our once-dead spirit, and eternal life begins in that very moment. So does access to the greatest wisdom in the universe. As we run our businesses, lead our families, and represent God in our day-to-day lives within our communities and spheres of influence, there are moments when we need wisdom beyond who we are and what we know. God offers wisdom far beyond our natural capacity. It is not something we have to manufacture on our own. Today, listen to the wisdom of your Creator—and live wisely. #BeTheEdge
