“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise.”
Yes, “sluggard” is kind of harsh. But there is a truth buried in this verse that I think is pretty applicable for today. We just celebrated an empty tomb—a resurrected Savior. And now, very often, we’re tempted to slip right back into our normal behavior. It’s worth pondering: if we had experienced that first Easter morning, seeing the tomb empty for the very first time, how would that have changed the next day—and the rest of our lives? When we come out of the Easter holiday, it should be with a fresh perspective on what we are to do and how we are to live. The empty tomb does give us hope for eternity. It opened the door for us to live forever with Jesus in heaven. But just as importantly, it also opened the door for us to live a life of power—the same power that God used when He raised His Son from the dead. The Greek word for that power is dunamis, which is where we get the word “dynamite.” We now have the Holy Spirit living inside us, giving us that dunamis power. I don’t know about you, but I don’t see nearly enough followers of Jesus living at that level of power. A glance at how disciplined and powerful the ant lives can be helpful. This year, let’s reflect on the resurrection and its implications for how we live today. Today, let that power loose in your journey. #BeTheEdge
“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11 NIV
