“Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly, but those who despise him are devious in their ways.”

Fearing God allows us to walk boldly and with confidence. Not fearing and respecting God should cause us to walk in true fear of everything else. Without a proper relationship with our Creator, we are in danger from Satan whether we know it or not. The destruction left by those who live in opposition to God show exactly why they should live in fear. A wise person recognizes the brokenness of those who walk out of relationship with God and is often persuaded to turn to Him as their refuge and protection. That is the beginning of a life covered in His righteousness. The word fears in this verse means “deep, reverential awe, respect, and submission to God rather than terror.” It doesn’t take long to realize that at some point life becomes a choice between these two very clear options. The only difference between them is where God fits in the story. It may take a while to reach the point where someone realizes they truly are desperate without God. There is a lot of false security offered in our world, and it may take time to come to the realization that it truly is false. But it is a biblical guarantee that at some point that truth will break through. At that moment, we choose to turn to the God who can not only rescue us and redeem us, but also give us confidence in Him to walk boldly into the future. Or we continue down the road to ultimate destruction and defeat. Today, choose God and be bold. #BeTheEdge
