“She has sent out her servants, and she calls from the highest point of the city,”

This is what wisdom is doing. A few verses later (14–16) we see folly in the exact same place, calling to the exact same group. This should not surprise us. God pursues us out of love, and Satan pursues us out of hate. God speaks to us of the good things He offers our life, and Satan speaks of counterfeits of those things. Where God’s gifts end in life, Satan’s end in death. There is no good thing God offers or represents that is not imitated by the evil one in an attempt to destroy. We make the choice. As the old poem says, two roads diverge, and we decide if we take the one everybody’s on or the one less traveled by. We can minimize which voice we hear, but as long as we live in this world we can never fully mute either one. Staying aware that there will always be competing voices speaking truth and lies is essential for us to make sure we choose correctly. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit is gifted to us to interpret which is which. Today, listen to God’s voice and live. #BeTheEdge
