“He holds success in store for the upright; he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless.”

The Hebrew word for success in this verse is not what we usually think of when we talk about success today. Here, the meaning is “solid, efficient, or abiding wisdom that enables competence and stability, rather than just material prosperity, stored up by God for the upright to use for living life well” (AI resource). I don’t necessarily need people with worldly success in my life, although there is nothing wrong with that. Men and women with this degree of God’s wisdom, competence, and stability are rare and invaluable allies in my Kingdom journey. I can’t think of a business that would not thrive with these people on their team. Again, there is nothing wrong with material achievement when it is received by God’s blessing and used for His glory. But the beauty of being a follower of God is the supernatural depth of impact and gifting He offers. There is a deeper level of interaction that, apart from the Spirit’s leading, defies explanation. Today, let the deep work of God rule in your heart. #BeTheEdge
