“How useless to spread a net where every bird can see it.”
A great truth about growing in maturity with God is that, over time, the tricks of Satan become easier to identify. Do not mistake this for meaning they are easy to identify; it’s just that as we walk faithfully in the Kingdom, we begin to learn how Satan works—particularly how he works in relation to our unique weaknesses. We come to know the triggers. We learn how he attacks us in our tender places. We have each been raised in unique environments, and those uniquenesses predispose us to certain temptations. Scripture talks about how the sins of the father are passed down. They are generationally inherited in what Chuck Swindoll referred to as bents—those places where we struggle in many of the same areas as our parents and even our grandparents. Secular counselors recognize this as well. “Inherited struggles refer to persistent challenges, often stemming from family patterns, trauma, or societal issues passed down through generations. These may manifest as mental health issues (depression, anxiety), unhealthy behaviors (substance misuse), physical ailments, financial strain, or relationship difficulties, requiring resilience, self-awareness, and sometimes professional help to overcome by changing mindset and developing coping skills.” (AI resource) In God’s Kingdom, we see these as supernaturally passed along. As we mature, we begin to see these nets spread before us and learn how, through prayer and the Spirit’s leading, to avoid them. Today, watch for the nets—and avoid them. #BeTheEdge
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
