“The Lord works out everything to its proper end— even the wicked for a day of disaster.”
I’ve mentioned before that the older I get, the more confident I am in the sovereignty of God—and the greater the peace it brings me. The first five words here should also bring great comfort to all believers: “The Lord works out everything…” This is a powerful truth. I have no idea what you may be tempted to believe is out of control in your life or in the world at large today. Solomon assures us that it’s not. This phrase also means that He will accomplish His plan in all things, at all times. A literal translation of the Hebrew could be, “He leaves no loose ends.” I have to say, I love that. My life at times seems to be nothing more than a pile of loose ends—without meaning, purpose, or direction. In this verse, we are assured that, often in spite of us, God has it under control, and one day we will be able to look back and celebrate every moment of the journey. The chaos. Even when we stray, Scripture assures us that in due time God will redeem everything and capture it for His ultimate good. Today, live knowing that everything is under His ultimate control and for His ultimate glory. #BeTheEdge
