“Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.”
Who do you trust to speak clear, honest, unvarnished truth into your life story? I have a friend who starts every morning with Our Daily Bread devotions. That’s not a bad place to start. I also have family members who no spend time with Dr. Billy Graham and I suspect that while they may have had some wonderful conversations with him—especially given their place in his lineage of salvation—he ultimately points them where he always did: Jesus. In fact, I don’t think Paul, Peter, or John would want us to stop with their words alone. They all point us directly to Jesus. Through His gift of the Holy Spirit, we have that same access as well. We should absolutely listen to and learn from the great leaders God has given us on this planet through their writings and teachings. But ultimately, we turn to Scripture, asking Jesus and His Holy Spirit to interpret and give us the most accurate look at the truth. “Trustworthy” is such a high goal in today’s world. I am thankful for the trustworthy people in my life, and even more thankful that they all point me to Jesus and not to themselves. Who do you trust? There are many people operating in this world with a greater knowledge of the Bible than I may ever have. Sadly, some do not have the Holy Spirit in their story. They use the Bible to dispute the resurrected Christ and what He came to do. Find trustworthy followers of Jesus, and allow the Holy Spirit to be the final authority in your understanding. Today, put all your trust in your heavenly Father and in those He has assigned to your story. #BeTheEdge
