“For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life,”

The truths in Scripture go deep into the eternal. They explore the depths of the heart of God. As I sat in church yesterday with a couple of my grandchildren, I watched the 12-year-old focused and taking notes as the pastor preached. Later, I asked her what she thought of the message, and she said it was good and helpful. The seven-year-old seemed to spend his time playing with his new Apple Watch. For fun, I texted him while he was so focused on it. He immediately sent me an emoji saying, “Be Quiet Please!” with the sentence under it saying, “I’m trying to listen and take notes from the message!” I was both stunned and stood rebuked. Both were apparently locked in on the teaching. Aside from my own lack of focused attention, it reminded me of the generational importance of sharing the deeper truths of Scripture. BibleRef says this about the Book of Proverbs and this verse: “The ultimate goal of the book of Proverbs is to foster discernment, character development, and the ability to pass on this God-given wisdom to the next generation, creating a continuous cycle of learning.” In the midst of the surrounding verses, we see that God has reserved for those who study His wisdom the ability to understand deeper truths—and the responsibility to communicate those truths to others. Today, dig deep, and when appropriate, share what you learn. #BeTheEdge
