“and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,”
A number of friends have shared that they plan to improve their financial situation this year. I hope to as well. There’s nothing wrong with that goal, as long as our desire is to use it to help us make a greater impact for the Kingdom. However, of all the things we can pursue in this new year, searching deeply for God is the greatest undertaking. Solomon makes it clear in this passage that there is nothing more valuable than growing in our wisdom and understanding of God. I read an article today that talked about a 67-year-old man who is encouraging people in his age group to never stop learning. He spoke about how, when we quit learning, we begin to die. He even made a scientific connection to that concept. If that is true—and I have no doubt that it is—I can only believe that learning more about God, who He is, and what He desires to do in and through our lives will not only enhance our purpose, but will give us life beyond anything else we could possibly live. The beauty of growing in your wisdom and knowledge of God is that it never ends. There is no bottom to the depth offered in knowing Him. As I have grown in my relationship with the Lord over the decades, what I’ve discovered is that the better I get to know Him, the more I realize how much I don’t know Him. This is a great time to add something to your daily habits to help you get to know Him better. Today pursue the knowledge of your creator. #BeTheEdge
