“The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh—an inspired utterance. This man’s utterance to Ithiel: ‘I am weary, God, but I can prevail.’”

I don’t know what kind of year you’ve had, but I’ve heard a lot of people talk about how difficult this past year was. That is usually followed by a desire for the new year to be better. It is rare for someone to go through a year without a few hardships mixed in with the good. Thankfully, we serve a God who makes promises to His children. One of my favorite promises, expressed by Paul, has served as my life verse for many years. It basically says that whatever happens in our lives, God will use for good if we love Him and serve Him. That promise doesn’t eliminate the weariness that life can bring. Many years in my life have ended with me feeling weary. I recently saw a quote that said what a privilege it is to be worn out by the pursuit of the call God has placed on our lives. I believe that, and I pray you do as well. In this chapter, the author goes on to talk about God’s Word—how powerful it is—and how we are to receive it exactly as He has given it to us. We are not to try to improve it, because as His will plays out in our lives and throughout time and history, we come to realize there is no improving it. There is only the danger of diminishing its impact on the world. The challenge for me this year is to read it daily, study it deeply, and allow it to guide and change my life. Today, if life gets you weary find rest in Him, enjoy your calling, and serve our Father. #BeTheEdge
