“To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”

I love the simplicity of this verse. That being said, it can be far more difficult to consistently do what is right and just than it is to sacrifice. Sacrifice calls for us to give up something of ourselves, but doing what is right and just speaks to the condition of our heart and the consistency of our lifestyle. I was recently in a conversation with a man who coached at a religious university. His comment was disappointing. He talked about how the school was very strict about behaviors but greatly lacked kindness and godly treatment of others. Paul addressed this when he spoke about people having a form of godliness without the Spirit. This may be one of the most difficult challenges for followers of Christ to overcome when reaching others for the Kingdom. Many non-Christians have encountered religious people who claim to follow God yet are neither kind nor compassionate. However, the good news is that those who live kind, just, Kingdom-centered lives are noticeable in a world where those qualities are often lacking. That visibility gives us a powerful opportunity to influence others for Christ. Today, live a kind and just life. #BeTheEdge
