“The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.”
A lot of Scripture is a mystery. To really grasp it takes revelation from the Spirit and perhaps deep study. There are many verses like that, but this isn’t one of them. The fact that it is the living, active Word of God makes it very mystical and supernatural. I would take nothing away from that. However, the fact that gaining wisdom helps us love life is not a mystery. A pretty good take on this verse says that “pursuing and embracing wisdom is a form of genuine self-love, as it leads to a better life, while cherishing understanding (God’s truth) ensures you will ‘find good,’ meaning success, prosperity, and lasting happiness, both now and in eternity—contrasting with foolishness that brings ruin. In essence, ‘He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will find good,’ tells us that prioritizing God-centered knowledge is the best way to care for yourself and experience true flourishing.” (AI Resource) Seeing life through God’s wisdom allows us to understand just how good we have it in our relationship with Him. Aligning our lives with Him in His creation offers us a view of life and the world that glitters with hope and joy. Looking at the Gulf on a bright, sunny day or witnessing a storm in the distance over the watery expanse both offer a powerful and awe-inspiring glimpse of the Creator. Knowing our life is firmly in the hands of the all-powerful Creator comes only by internalizing His wisdom. Today, let the eyes of faith bring you joy and a love for the gift of life. #BeTheEdge
