“Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.”

I watched a talent show earlier today. Two young men performed a hip-hop dance routine as their talent. It was amazing, though I’ve certainly seen many like it. What set them apart was summed up by one of the judges. He said, “You guys were terrific. I especially loved your exuberance and your countenance. We could see a happy and positive soul in your eyes.” Solomon makes the same observation in a more general sense. All of us who have the Spirit of God living in us should offer the world that same experience when it encounters us. It should certainly be accompanied by the best news ever: the eternal life available through the source of that light—our resurrected Savior. The word Solomon uses for messenger also carries the meaning of good news, which is what the word gospel means. The truth about Jesus, written about 970 years after this proverb, is the ultimate Good News foreshadowed in this book. I have often seen the reality of Jesus in a person’s eyes and countenance before they ever speak of Him. We give joy to the world . Today, let His presence and good news shine. #BeTheEdge

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Jesus
