“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.”

When my oldest was a child, he would often do something a bit mischievous. When confronted about it, he wouldn’t try to hide the fact that he had done whatever it was. Instead, he would very honestly tell me why he did it. Most often it was simply a statement of his desire. There was a refreshing simplicity and honesty in that response. Over time, that changed. There is a reflection of what Solomon means in this verse found in his early behavior. The word integrity in this passage carries a rich meaning: completeness, perfection, innocence, simplicity, uprightness, and soundness. It’s a word packed with depth. To walk securely is a tremendous gift. Just as my young son didn’t have to fear us discovering hidden deeds, the person in this verse lives a life of transparency and uprightness that produces a calm, peaceful heart. Knowing there is nothing to hide is profoundly comforting and incredibly freeing. Ken Davis shares a message about living with nothing to fear and nothing to hide. It is a powerful challenge—and ultimately it is the natural result of living a life of integrity. The other promise in this verse is sobering: no matter how well someone believes they’ve hidden their sin, it will eventually come to light. As comforting as a life of integrity is, a life built on “crooked paths” becomes the source of much of the anxiety and depression so many face today. Not all, but many. Today, choose to live in peace by walking in integrity. #BeTheEdge
