“For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths.”
This is a frightening verse for the lost and an exciting one for the saved. At least it should be. It tells us God is fully aware of and focused on a person’s conduct, actions, and the manner of their life—all of which are observed by Him. Interestingly, the word for ways can also mean path, yet the word used for paths here is not the same as the one for ways. The word for path in this context means a specific route or track. So as we look at Solomon’s teaching in this verse, we see that God sees everything (omniscience) about how we travel through our life, internally and externally, while examining—at a soul level—where we are journeying to. He sees the big picture of our journey and ponders or examines our choice of each step along the way. It is often hard for the lost to comprehend a personal God who cares enough to pay such close attention to one among billions. It’s hard for me at times. Yet Solomon, as well as much of Scripture, regularly reminds us that He does. That level of care and attention to the details of our story reflects a loving, doting parent. What a beautiful and encouraging reality. Today, find joy and rest in His attention. #BeTheEdge
