“Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.”

As I was reading this in Proverbs chapter 4 to my grandson this morning, he heard this verse and casually said, “I think you should use that one.” I asked why, and he said it made him think of Jesus. When I asked what about Jesus, he replied, “Him dying on the cross and giving us life.” I didn’t see the connection at first. The Hebrew word for “life” in this verse is a plural word and speaks to the fullness of life. Jesus referred to Himself as The Life—not a life or even a way of life, but Life itself. When the New Testament used the word “life,” it was either referring to the body, the soul, or eternal life. When Jesus referred to Himself as The Life, He was talking about eternal life.,Solomon challenged us to hang on to and live in obedience to every word of instruction from God. He tells us that as a result we will have a successful journey—according to God’s definition of success. In the same way, as we continue to live out our story in obedience to Jesus’ instruction, we will inherit and enjoy eternal life in Him. First by receiving the life He offers. As my grandson noticed, all life is a gift from God. Today, truly live. #BeTheEdge
