“The Lord works out everything to its proper end— even the wicked for a day of disaster.”
Sovereignty. One word that sums up this truth. It’s the story of Joseph—what you intended for evil, God intended for good. It’s my story at times too. That’s what Paul talks about in Romans 8:28, which until recently was my life verse. Oh, it may not look like it. As a matter of fact, when Joseph was down in that pit, I’m pretty sure it didn’t look anything like God was working out his story. When I walked into a meeting happy with where God had me serving Him and walked out unemployed, little did I know what He had planned for just 24 hours away. Okay, maybe it took a little longer than 24 hours to realize just how in control He was in those moments. In spite of what others intended He was sovereignly directing my journey. He is never surprised, and He is always in control. One of the occasional difficulties with Romans 8:28 is that it says “the good,” not “my good.” But with an eternal perspective—understanding that God’s kingdom is all about His family’s good—what we might call bad in the moment, when placed carefully in His hands, is ultimately part of His sovereign movement toward kingdom perfection. Today, enjoy the gift of God’s sovereignty. #BeTheEdge
