“Today I fulfilled my vows, and I have food from my fellowship offering at home.”

Sin is not necessarily ugly to look at. It often looks like us. Satan used—or rather, misused—scripture to try and tempt Jesus in the desert. One source talks about the temptress in this passage: “This is a tactic of hypocritical deception, where she uses the language of religious observance to mask her immoral intentions and draw the man into the snare of her seduction, preying on his lust and carelessness. The commentary highlights this as an example of how superficial piety can be used as a tool for sin and temptation.” (AI resource) It is can be a frightening thing to realize that Satan knows and understands scripture better than we do. Without more than a cursory understanding of God’s Word, we can be led into sin. Many cults twist God’s truth to fool weak people into following them. Knowing and understanding scripture—along with working to grasp the fullness of God—is necessary to ward off the clever deceptions of the evil one. I recommend having people in your journey who are further down that path as counsel. Today, run everything through the breadth of God’s truth. #BeTheEdge
