“for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about making trouble.”
The verse prior tells us not to desire the company of the wicked. After having the privilege of being immersed 24/7 for about a week in the company of wise, fun, and godly men, I don’t know why anyone would willingly seek out time with the wicked rather than with Kingdom people. I know we must live, work and reach out to the lost world. That’s important. But for fellowship we make a choice. One speaks life and joy, while the other brings darkness and shades of destruction and chaos.
Over the years, I’ve had to spend extended time with groups of lost people. It is not always immediately clear how subtly draining that can be on our spirit. It’s the frog-in-the-kettle syndrome (Google it). But because my work life is so Kingdom-involved, I have also spent numerous extended times with followers of God, often with my family present as well. It’s a great glimpse of what awaits us in heaven.
This past week we laughed hard and even teared up a bit (man-speak for “cried”). And it was all good. For me, it was life-giving and life-changing. That makes me look forward to heaven.
Today—choose the superior life with life-givers. #BeTheEdge
