“The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.”

I was once asked how, after more than 15 years of writing a daily devotion from Proverbs, I can still find a fresh thought to share. That’s actually a very good question—one that has, more than once, made me wonder if it was time to stop or at least move on to another book of the Bible. But then I remember Solomon’s message in this passage, as well as in others: God’s words and truth are deep. There’s certainly a lot to see and learn at first glance, but continual study of God’s Word consistently brings deeper and fresher insights. I know several business leaders who have started their day reading that days corresponding chapter in Proverbs —every day—for decades. They speak of the depth of insight it has brought to their journey. I’ve had the same experience. God’s Word is bottomless. As you read this, I’m heading to Montana with a group of men for The Edge Fly Fishing trip. We’ll be fishing five rivers. The pictures show flowing rivers about knee-deep—refreshing and calming. Wisdom offers something similar. Solomon reminds us that God’s truth continually provides deep wisdom to refresh our souls. Today, let Him refresh you. #BeTheEdge
