“For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths.”
One of the six tenets of a biblical worldview is the omniscience of God—He sees and knows all. This was not always the view of God I held. I used to think He was… well… a little bit like a divine principal—a cosmic judge with a clipboard. Holy, but not very personal. I saw His omniscience as a tool to catch us doing wrong. But His omniscience is actually a recognition of what it truly means to be God. It brings peace to His followers, knowing we are never outside His watchful care. There is certainly a purifying effect when we realize God is with us at all times, and we desire to please Him. Yes, the certainty that God detects our sin is true. However, it is a far more frightening thought to believe that God is not aware or in control of everything happening in the universe. Who would want to live in that kind of world? A universe operating at the whim of chance is not only frightening—it is heartbreaking. A sovereign God brings not only peace, but also hope. Today, find comfort in His awareness. #BeTheEdge
