“for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.”
I was at lunch the other day with a group of businessmen. The conversation turned to a man who was accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from the company he worked for. That led to a few other stories about people who had been caught doing the same thing. One of them was explaining how he believed it happened. He said it often starts with a small, incorrect financial move with company money—maybe not even intentionally. The next time they saw an opportunity, they repeated the decision, thinking it would never be discovered and possibly justifying it for some reason. From there, it was just a matter of time until the amounts grew larger and the frequency increased. Before they knew it, they were deeply involved in the willful act of stealing from their employer. Solomon tells us that when we walk intimately with the wisdom of God, He protects us from these foolish choices. The knowledge of His truth and the presence of His Spirit work together to convince and convict us of the traps Satan uses to entice us. It is vital to spend time regularly in God’s presence and allow Him to lead our thinking and our actions. Today, let Him guide your steps.
