“for giving prudence to those who are simple, knowledge and discretion to the young—”

I’ve been reading about IQ. It’s fascinating to see where it came from and how it influences society. I have known some really smart people—many who think they’re too smart for God. Thankfully a number of them truly love God. I once had a grad student, who had been in my ministry during high school, explain why she walked away from her relationship with God. She told me that in graduate school she learned that very smart people—especially her professors—did not believe in God. That He was a construct the less intelligent found necessary for their existence. The truly smart, she said, understood that He was a crutch—only necessary for those unable to think higher thoughts about existence. She then launched into other ideas that this average-intelligence fellow didn’t quite follow. I’m so grateful that Solomon reminds us God has a special heart for the simple and the young. While society tends to diminish the value of people by many standards—wealth, looks, and intelligence—God doesn’t. God takes what the world devalues and speaks right into it with love, power, and presence. I choose His strength in my weakness. Today, let Him fill your gaps. #BeTheEdge

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬
