“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.”
How nice would that be? Every word, flawless. I’m one of the worst when it comes to saying something and then beating myself up for days, thinking, “I wish I hadn’t said that,” or “I wish I’d taken a moment to find a better way to say it.” Remaining quiet is a difficult—yet incredibly valuable—skill I’m learning. When we read in this passage and others about the flawless nature of God’s words, it reminds us how vital it is to spend as much time as possible listening to and reading them. I assure you, no other document can make that claim. We give a lot of importance to the words of our U.S. Constitution—and rightfully so. Our courts, especially the Supreme Court, are tasked with correctly interpreting the authors’ meaning and helping us, as a nation, adhere to it. How much more important is it to correctly understand and follow the infallible Word of God? Solomon reminds us that knowing and living by His flawless Word gives protection for our everyday journey. There should be amazing, supernatural comfort in realizing that God has never once wished to change or take back a single syllable of His words—from the beginning of time until today, and through tomorrow. His Word is unchanging. Today, live by His Words. #BeTheEdge
