“Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.”

I found myself wondering how to be best prepared for our final moment on this earth—whether by death or rapture. In college some friends and I used to have fun discussions about what the very best thing to be doing would be if Jesus returned while we were still alive. Sin was certainly not on that list. Some sort of mission work ranked high. Even doing something kind for a stranger was pretty good too. Sharing the Gospel definitely earned a few points. What didn’t make the list was doing something to grow our wealth. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that. In fact, God calls and has uniquely gifted some of His followers for just that purpose. The bottom line became this: we want to be walking in the center of the call He has placed on our lives at the moment we transition from this world into heaven. Solomon’s point is that wealth alone means nothing at that point—literally nothing at all. Being in right relationship with Jesus, standing clothed in His righteousness, is everything. It’s all that matters. Walk faithfully in His calling for you, and remember to keep that first. As you grow, grow in Him, and let your walk impact those you encounter—for eternity. It doesn’t have to be out in a foreign mission field. You are standing in one right now. It’s not about where you are or even what you’re doing when you take your last breath. It’s all about whose you are. Today, live Jesus. #BeTheEdge
