“All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.”

Americans’ trust in the media has fallen from just under 80% in the 1970s to the low 30s today. A recent Gallup survey revealed that, for the past 16 years, nurses have been the most trusted professionals. Sadly, fifth on the list is clergy. Third was ordinary people. Nearly 86% of people believe in a God, and approximately 80% believe He has protected them. Those are encouraging numbers. In a world where trust in others is waning, it’s heartening to see that God might be filling that gap. The challenge is helping people know where to hear from Him. Twenty percent of Americans believe the Bible is literally true; however, 55% hold a “high view” of it (Barna). That’s promising. As followers of Jesus, it is imperative that we understand what Solomon is saying in this verse. Wisdom, which represents God in this chapter, always speaks truth. He is just and never deceptive. In a world adrift with a loose—or even nonexistent—belief in truth, we understand that not only is there absolute truth, but Jesus is that truth. He referred to Himself as The Truth. How truly spectacular that we can walk firmly grounded in the knowledge that we don’t float and flit through life on every new whim of culture. We stand firm, even as the world drifts—lost, searching, or deceived—around us. We are a lighthouse, showing the contrast between truth and lies. We are quietly pointing others toward The Truth. Today, stand firm. #BeTheEdge
