“For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths.”

Recently, I was talking with a friend about a movie I had watched. The setting was London, England. While I was watching, they mentioned that London has more cameras monitoring the public than any other place in the world. They said you’re literally always in view of a couple of cameras, no matter where you are. A few years ago, I heard a mobster say that it’s almost impossible to get away with a crime these days, with all the cameras and tracking devices available to law enforcement. In that instance, I thought, “Good.” I also remember being encouraged to cover up the camera lenses on my phone, TV, and computer. I found that to be too much work. Solomon tells us that when it comes to constant observation where it really matters, it has always been around. God sees us at all times—even where there are no cameras. He even sees our thoughts. At one point, the idea that the government or more nefarious groups were watching my every move made me see this verse as a bit unsettling. Perhaps, to an extent, it should be. But it’s also a good reminder when we’re tempted by what we think is secret sin. God is not looking for “gotcha” moments. He already knows what we’re going to do long before we do it. He is always there to guide us. He is there to look out for and protect us. It’s like having a parent walking alongside a toddler on a path. Today, enjoy His presence. #BeTheEdge
