“They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.”‬‬

I’m constantly amazed at the jewelry many celebrities wear. I think it would be uncomfortable. I also wonder what kind of statement it makes. I’ve been told that, often, when a celebrity has grown up in poverty, it’s a way of showing the dramatic change in their life circumstances. “In certain cultures—such as hip-hop—elaborate jewelry (often referred to as “bling”) is a visual representation of success and hard work.” (AIresearch). I’m not judging it; I’m just speculating about it. Solomon takes the idea of how we present who we are in a much deeper and more powerful way. In the previous verse, he makes it clear that listening to and learning from godly parents brings a beautiful presence. When we reflect the deep wisdom of God, it shows through in our countenance. Over the years, I’ve often interacted with people who seemed to have something inside that they simply couldn’t hide. It was beautiful and reflected a kind and caring spirit. More often than not—usually because I couldn’t resist asking carefully—they turned out to be Christ-followers. I genuinely love finding God’s children randomly in so many different settings. It’s impossible to hide the genuine fruit of the Spirit in your life. Today, let Him shine. #BeTheEdge
