Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers.”
One of the more exciting things happening in our ministry is the addition of a new national staff member. This person will join me in launching new city starts and will eventually take on the responsibility of shepherding their leaders into a fully developed “The Edge” ministry. At least, that’s the plan—if I can raise the necessary funds. Another exciting aspect of this expansion is the new city leaders and their boards, who will carry the mission of this ministry into their communities and beyond. Although this may sound like a typical ministry update, it’s actually a vivid picture of what Solomon emphasizes in this verse. For several years, I have been the only staff member with The Edge National. I’ve had the support of a great board, and this verse is exactly why we also added a tremendous board of advisors. From day one in ministry, I knew I needed to be part of a close team. I also knew I needed people around me who were wiser than I am. God provided them. They help keep me on His path and have pulled me out of a few ditches over the years. I’ve seen what happens to those who think they don’t need wise counselors in their lives—they often end up ineffective or missing in battle. That is not the destiny we want. In case we’re tempted to forget, C.S. Lewis reminds us that the battle is constantly raging over every square inch of the universe—between the forces of God and Satan, including the space you currently occupy. You are in a war. Today, find those who will guide you. #BeTheEdge
