“Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.”

Nobody listened. The religious leaders didn’t. They kept accusing Jesus of blasphemy, among other things. I’m not even sure God can blaspheme—but I’m certain that if He could, He wouldn’t. The soldiers didn’t listen. They played their role: slapping, beating, laughing, spitting, and relishing in the dividing of His few possessions..The crowd certainly didn’t. They just screamed for His brutal death on rough wood. Pilate didn’t. He washed his hands, even though he gave Him the label, “King of the Jews.” They all only wanted to share their opinions and revel in the destruction of our Savior..What was it that caused them all to miss out on what they were a part of—on being on the wrong side of not only history, but eternity? Their opinion. Yet, one paid attention. This lone centurion stood at the foot of the cross and declared, “Surely this was the Son of God.” Being quiet, watching and learning what God is up to is a gift—and it is not hard. We admit we know nothing apart from Him, and we listen. Today, be silent before Him. #BeTheEdge
