“Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?”

Christmas represents many things, especially from a spiritual perspective. It marks the coming of the Kingdom of God to earth—a fascinating and profound concept. One of the things I love about Christmas as a follower of God is how it represents His desire for a relationship with us. Not only that, but a relationship that is full of meaning, wisdom, and intimacy. In this chapter, Solomon begins by reminding us that God does not hide Himself from the world. He offers us the best of what and who He is, freely and clearly. He does not hide. Those who claim to have never seen God simply haven’t looked. In fact, they willingly and defiantly close their eyes and turn away. To make Himself known, He sent His one and only Son, the second person of the Trinity. I still can’t fully comprehend that. The poem “One Solitary Life” by James Allen Francis describes the unavoidable impact Jesus Christ had on this planet. It’s too long to include in this brief devotion, but I suggest Googling it and reading it. The point of today’s devotion is that, as Solomon writes, God and His wisdom stare us in the face every day. From the beauty of a sunset to the intricacy of an atom, He shows Himself in glimpses of who He is. There are things that take place at Christmas that can obscure Him. But as my 7-year-old granddaughter says, and as Randy Stonehill sings, “Perhaps they’ll think about the Word and see it spells His name.” Today, see Him. #BeTheEdge
