“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.”

Scripture tells us great things about our eyes, sight, and vision in general. Some of it is symbolic, and some is literal. A cool fact is that while every miracle performed by Jesus had been done in the Old Testament, giving sight to the blind wasn’t. It was a Messianic miracle, reserved for the coming Messiah alone. When Jesus gave sight to a blind person, every Jew present instantly knew what that meant—Jesus was the Messiah. We hear Him say that the eyes are the window to the soul, revealing what is inside us. I have encountered the darkness in some eyes, while in others, I’ve seen a sparkle and life emanating from them. Paul instructs us to set our eyes on things in the heavens, where God reigns and directs the course of this world. Solomon’s command to look straight ahead, not allowing the things of this world to distract us from God’s call on our journey, is repeated in numerous places. Today, “turn your eyes upon Jesus”. #BeTheEdge
