“It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.”

Solomon is pretty big on this theme. It can’t be much more simple than stated here. I sat with Malcom last week over lunch. We started in ministry together over 40 years ago. He’s still doing the same thing and eternity is being profoundly impacted by it. He mentioned someone we worked with during those years. My mind flashed on what a difficult and unkind person they were. I knew he had many of the same experiences with that person that I did. However, I didn’t say anything. His first words about the person were positive and compassionate. I was taken by surprise and started to contradict his assessment. But, I stopped. I know three people who I don’t remember having ever said a bad thing to or about another person. He is one of them. There have been many they remained silent about while not uttering a negative word. I’ve always admired that. I’ve also envied it to the point where I now work to model it. It also makes me very comfortable about how they speak of me in my absence. Today speak well or remain silent. #BeTheEdge
