“Desire without knowledge is not good— how much more will hasty feet miss the way!”

This is sometimes known as ‘going off half cocked’. Literally to take a premature or ill- conceived action. I have a rifle that was gifted to me. It is a 308 lever action. The safety is on when the hammer is locked in the half way back position. That means the gun won’t fire. You now have all my knowledge about firearms. I can be quick to act. Often with less information than is available and would be helpful. This often results in what my wife and kids affectionately named “Uncle Ricky” projects. Uncle Ricky is a life long friend. To save money and because we believed we were brilliant we often undertook projects that we should have spent a bit more time considering. They all ended in disaster to varying degrees that made for wonderful stories years later. We always had the desire yet seldom had the knowledge. As long as no one was hurt it was perhaps a bit expensive but ultimately ok. In the spiritual realm the cost can be devastating. Leaving critical elements out of teaching is why we are cautioned to not lay hands on someone to quickly. Scripture is also filled with cautions for us to be careful about misrepresenting God with our lives. Living a half cocked Christian life has left physical and spiritual carnage throughout history. Today speak and live the full truth of God. #BeTheEdge
