“An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.”

I once had a person on my staff manipulate circumstances to get my job. I was completely caught off guard. Afterwards I was discussing it with a very successful friend and CEO. I let him know I did not see that coming especially since we were in ministry. His very nonplussed response was, “Sadly I see this often in business where a younger person sets their sights on a leadership position and do what they can to move the person out of their way. It’s nothing personal.” It certainly felt personal. Ultimately their moves hurt everyone involved as well as the ministry. Most significantly it hurt the cause of Christ. Thankfully God handles His reputation just fine even when we don’t. However, this person ends up with everyone around them wary about when they will be their next target. Bible ref says this about this person, “The “isolating” person exhibits a superior attitude, as if other people’s judgment is beneath them. Such a person can never expand their horizons; they will be left with only limited knowledge. This verse indicates that the “isolating” person is not being passive. Such an attitude means fighting against good sense.” The verse tells us they are unfriendly, selfish and use poor judgment. Today avoid being this person. #BeTheEdge
