“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.”

Love and faithfulness are two of the characteristics most often used to describe God in scripture. There are many other character traits we see throughout scripture but none as prevalent as these two. Consequently, as His children and representatives on earth we are expected, by Him, to reflect these in our lives and interactions. Lately we have seen times God could be mistakenly seen as angry, bitter or even vengeful if judged by the behavior of some of His followers. Maybe a dose of righteous indignation feels appropriate. It’s not. We are never instructed to treat the lost as any thing other than lost. We are to see them as we were, broken, sinful, lost and in need of a rescue. No one runs to a rescuer who is angry and mean. They run into loving arms. They respond to a kind and pursuing Father. The Dad who sees the prodigal turn to face home and runs to him. When someone looks at us as God’s representative it should not be difficult to see the love and faithfulness draped over, dripping invitingly from our lives. It should not be difficult to read them in our story. Today look like Him. #BeTheEdge
